Product Summary: This antique Japanese Arita ware porcelain charger signed underside with a “Fuku”, or happiness mark, dates to the 19th-century, Meiji period (1868-1912).

 

Japanese porcelain Arita ware, produced in the city of Arita Japan has origins dating to the 17th century and was produced exclusively for export to Europe and Southeast Asian markets.

 

While Arita ware has different styles and utilizes different color schemes and patterns, Arita ware traditionally utilized blue and white color tones, borrowing heavily from the ornamentation and design of Chinese porcelain and art with the elemental shaping of western décor.
